Nigeria's Super Eagles have maintained their 26th position in the latest men's world rankings released by FIFA on Thursday, June 11. The team, under the guidance of coach Éric Chelle, participated in two matches during the Unity Cup invitational tournament held in London last month.
Recent Matches and Results
The three-time African champions secured a 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe and followed it with a 3-0 win against Jamaica. Earlier in June, Nigeria played a friendly against Poland in Warsaw, which ended in a 2-2 draw. The Super Eagles then faced Portugal in another international friendly in Leiria on Wednesday night, losing 2-1.
African and Global Standings
On the African continent, Nigeria remains in third place, trailing behind Morocco and Senegal. Algeria and Egypt complete the top five positions in Africa. Globally, the top five rankings remained unchanged, with world champions Argentina holding the number one spot, followed by Spain, France, England, and Portugal.
The next edition of the FIFA world rankings is scheduled for release on Monday, July 20.
