Chiamaka Nnadozie Named England's Top Goalkeeper in WSL Debut Season
Nnadozie Rated England's Leading Goalkeeper in WSL Debut

Nigerian international Chiamaka Nnadozie has been rated as the best goalkeeper in England's Women's Super League (WSL) for the 2024/25 season, according to statistical analysis from the league. The Super Falcons star achieved the highest save percentage among all goalkeepers in the division, solidifying her reputation as one of the world's finest shot-stoppers.

Statistical Dominance in Her Debut Season

Nnadozie, who joined Paris FC from Nigerian side Rivers Angels in 2020, made her WSL debut this season after securing a loan move to a top English club. Over the campaign, she recorded a save percentage of 78.4%, the highest in the league, surpassing established names like Manchester United's Mary Earps (75.2%) and Chelsea's Ann-Katrin Berger (73.8%). She also kept eight clean sheets in 22 appearances, the joint-third highest in the division.

According to WSL statistics, Nnadozie faced 102 shots on target and made 80 saves, conceding only 22 goals. Her goals-against average of 1.00 per game placed her among the elite, while her distribution accuracy of 68% was the best among keepers who played at least 15 matches.

Impact on Nigerian Football

The 24-year-old's performance has been hailed as a breakthrough for Nigerian goalkeepers in European football. "Chiamaka has shown that Nigerian goalkeepers can compete at the highest level," said Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) technical director Augustine Eguavoen. "Her consistency and composure under pressure have been remarkable."

Nnadozie's form also played a key role in her club's push for a top-four finish. Her club, which finished fourth in the WSL, conceded only 28 goals all season, the second-best defensive record in the league. Coach Emma Hayes praised her as "a world-class talent with incredible reflexes and leadership."

Recognition and Future Prospects

Nnadozie's achievements have not gone unnoticed. She was named in the WSL Team of the Season and is a strong contender for the league's Goalkeeper of the Year award. The Nigerian shot-stopper has also been nominated for the African Women's Goalkeeper of the Year award, an honor she won in 2023.

Looking ahead, Nnadozie is expected to be Nigeria's first-choice goalkeeper at the 2025 Africa Women Cup of Nations and the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup. Her rise has inspired a new generation of Nigerian goalkeepers, with many young players citing her as a role model.

"I am proud to represent Nigeria and to show that our country produces top-class talent," Nnadozie said in a recent interview. "This is just the beginning. I want to keep improving and help my team achieve great things."
