Super Eagles Legend Advises Victor Osimhen on Future Club Destination
Nigerian football icon Ogenyi Onazi has offered strategic transfer advice to fellow Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen regarding his potential next career move should he depart from Turkish club Galatasaray. This guidance comes amidst persistent transfer speculation surrounding the prolific striker, despite recent denials from both the player and club officials.
Transfer Rumors Surround Osimhen's Galatasaray Future
Recent reports from Turkish media outlet Haberler have suggested that Victor Osimhen is dissatisfied with his current situation at Galatasaray and is contemplating a return to Italy's Serie A. These rumors gained traction following Osimhen's subdued goal celebrations during a match against Juventus, though the striker himself has since clarified that his quiet demeanor was misinterpreted and does not reflect unhappiness with the club.
Osimhen's journey to Galatasaray followed a complex transfer saga that saw Napoli block his proposed moves to elite European clubs across two transfer windows, including Paris Saint-Germain, while negotiations with Chelsea ultimately failed to materialize. The Nigerian forward joined Galatasaray permanently on July 31, 2025, after an exceptionally productive loan spell during the 2024/25 season where he netted an impressive 37 goals.
His outstanding performances in European competitions have reignited interest from top clubs across the continent, with Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich reportedly identifying him as a primary target for their number nine positions following his Champions League displays.
Onazi's Strategic Transfer Recommendations
Former Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi, who previously played for Italian club Lazio, has provided detailed counsel regarding Osimhen's potential next destination. While acknowledging that Italian clubs like Juventus, Inter Milan, and AS Roma would represent solid choices due to their player valuation and supportive environments, Onazi expressed a clear preference for an English Premier League move.
"That [Juventus] would be a very good one for him, because there are characteristics of a club in Italy that are good choices to make," Onazi stated during an interview with Footy-Africa. "So, if Victor goes to clubs like Juventus, Inter Milan, AS Roma, those are clubs I would appreciate him to go to, because those are people who value the player who they have, and without much problems."
However, the football legend emphasized that England would provide Osimhen with superior opportunities for development and exposure. "But for me, I would love to see Victor in an English club because that is where he can explore very well, and that is more... he will have more broad chances, you know? And that's one of the best leagues in the world, you know? So, I would love to see him there," Onazi elaborated.
Contractual Complexities and Salary Clarifications
One significant obstacle to a potential Juventus transfer involves contractual stipulations between Galatasaray and Napoli. According to reports, Galatasaray would be required to pay a substantial €50 million fine to Napoli if Osimhen were to join Juventus, making moves to other leagues more financially feasible for interested clubs.
Meanwhile, Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek has publicly addressed rumors suggesting the club has delayed salary payments to key players including Osimhen. Ozbek firmly denied these allegations, characterizing them as disrespectful to the professionalism of both the players and the club's administration. He emphasized that Galatasaray fulfills all financial obligations to players according to their contractual agreements.
The ongoing transfer speculation continues to generate significant attention within football circles, with Osimhen's future remaining a topic of intense discussion among analysts, fans, and former players alike as the European football landscape prepares for potential summer transfer activity.
