Former President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, has publicly declared his support for Arsenal to win the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain. The match is scheduled to take place at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary, on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 5 PM.
Pinnick's Personal Connection to Arsenal
Pinnick, a lifelong Arsenal supporter, expressed his excitement and hope for the Gunners to lift the coveted trophy. He recalled attending the 2006 final in Paris, where Arsenal lost 2-1 to Barcelona despite taking an early lead, after Jens Lehmann was sent off in the 18th minute. '20 years ago, I watched live in Paris, with bitter memories, as we lost to Barcelona with 10 men. I pray and hope Arsenal lifts this coveted trophy this time around,' Pinnick wrote on his Instagram page.
Invitation from UEFA President
The football administrator confirmed that he will attend the final as a guest of UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin, who extended an invitation upon Pinnick's request. 'By His Grace, I will be in Budapest to watch the finals, thanks to my dear friend, Aleksander Čeferin, the UEFA President,' Pinnick added.
Arsenal's Road to the Final
Arsenal secured their place in the final by defeating Atletico Madrid 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium, advancing 2-1 on aggregate. This marks their first Champions League final appearance since 2006. Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain reached a second consecutive final after a 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena eliminated Bayern Munich 6-5 on aggregate.
Supercomputer Predictions
According to Opta's supercomputer, Arsenal have a 55% chance of winning the final, while PSG have a 44% chance of retaining their title. Pinnick also attended Arsenal's recent 3-0 Premier League victory over Fulham with his son, who had the opportunity to meet Arsenal legends Aaron Ramsey and Per Mertesacker.
Pinnick concluded: 'It was also a great delight to witness Arsenal's triumph over Fulham with my son, who was privileged to meet two Arsenal legends, making the moment even more special, as the victory secured our position at the top of the league. A lifelong supporter of Arsenal and a grateful Platinum Seats member.'
