Victor Osimhen may depart from Galatasaray during the upcoming summer transfer window, but any prospective club must prepare a substantial financial package to secure his services. The Nigerian striker, who joined Galatasaray permanently on July 31, 2025, for a record-breaking €75 million from Napoli, has attracted interest from several top European clubs.
Osimhen's Performance at Galatasaray
During the 2024/25 season, Osimhen spent a loan spell in Turkey after failing to secure a move from Napoli. He scored 37 goals, leading Galatasaray to the league title. In his second season, despite injuries and participation in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, he netted 22 goals in all competitions, helping the club retain the championship.
Interest from Top Clubs
Several elite European clubs have expressed interest in signing Osimhen, including Premier League sides and La Liga's FC Barcelona. Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle initially indicated that Osimhen was excused from national duty due to a potential transfer, though this statement was later clarified. Nevertheless, a move remains possible.
The Financial Hurdle
According to Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, as reported by Gazeta Express, Galatasaray will demand €140 million for Osimhen. This figure represents a significant increase from the €75 million they paid just one year ago. The high asking price may deter many interested clubs, particularly those constrained by financial fair play regulations.
Barcelona, one of the leading suitors, has already spent €80 million on Anthony Gordon and is pursuing Julian Alvarez, whose transfer could exceed €100 million. Adding Osimhen to their roster would be financially challenging.
Salary and Total Cost
Osimhen currently earns €21 million per year net at Galatasaray and has insisted on maintaining this salary. In countries like Spain and England, where tax rates on high incomes are approximately 45%, clubs would need to pay him around €38.18 million annually before tax to match his net salary. When combined with the amortized transfer fee of €28 million per year over a five-year contract, the total annual cost of employing Osimhen would be approximately €66.18 million.
Italian clubs, including Juventus, are effectively barred from signing Osimhen due to a clause inserted by Napoli that prohibits Serie A clubs from acquiring him for two years or requires a €70 million penalty fee.
Turkish Pundit's Perspective
Turkish football analyst Ahmet Cakar has stated that Galatasaray should only sell Osimhen if their €140 million valuation is met. He emphasized that the club should not hesitate to sanction the transfer under such conditions.
As the summer window approaches, the financial demands surrounding Victor Osimhen will likely shape the transfer saga, with only a few clubs possessing the resources to meet Galatasaray's expectations.
