Lizzo Wins Key Ruling as Court Dismisses Fat-Shaming Claims in Dancers' Lawsuit
Court Dismisses Fat-Shaming Claims Against Lizzo

Singer and body positivity icon Lizzo has broken her silence following a significant legal victory in the ongoing lawsuit filed by three of her former dancers. A key part of the case, the fat-shaming allegations, has been thrown out by the court.

Court Strikes Down Central Allegation

In a development on Monday, December 15, 2025, the court dismissed the claims that Lizzo fat-shamed or discriminated against her former dancers based on their weight. The singer addressed the ruling in a silent Instagram video, using on-screen text to communicate her message. She stated that the allegations were removed because they lacked merit and supporting evidence.

The lawsuit was originally filed by former dancers Arianna Davis, Noelle Rodriguez, and Crystal Williams. They had accused Lizzo of creating a hostile work environment, with the fat-shaming claims being a central component of their sexual harassment case.

Lizzo's Defense and Counter-Allegations

According to Lizzo's statement, the court found no proof that anyone was fired for gaining weight. Instead, she asserts that the dancers were let go for secretly recording her without permission and subsequently sharing that footage with former employees. This, she claims, was the real reason for their dismissal.

The Grammy-winning artist expressed that the accusations have been a heavy burden since they first surfaced in 2023. She stressed her long-standing public commitment to celebrating all body types and promoting self-love throughout her career.

Legal Team Confident as Case Continues

Lizzo's legal representatives, attorney Marty Singer and his partner Melissa Y Glass, revealed last week that the dropped claims were undermined by sworn statements from 18 witnesses. They argued that the strength of this evidence led the plaintiffs to abandon their appeal regarding the dismissed fat-shaming allegations.

Lizzo stated that she trusts her legal team to handle the matter and views the dismissal as confirmation that she is on the right path. She made it clear she intends to contest every remaining allegation until the case is fully resolved, expressing hope that the rest of the lawsuit will be resolved in a similar manner.
