Actress Eniola Badmus has decried the persistent body shaming she has received since she began her weight loss journey. In a post shared on Instagram, Eniola said that five years ago, she used to weigh 170kg but after she put in the work to shed some weight, she has come down to 83kg. She said despite the size reduction, which she expects to be applauded for, she still gets body-shamed by the same people who body-shamed her when she was on the big side.
Weight Loss Journey from 170kg to 83kg
Eniola Badmus revealed that her transformation from 170kg to 83kg did not happen overnight. It took years of discipline, sacrifice, pain, consistency, tears, setbacks, and choosing her health every single day. She described it as one of the hardest journeys of her life and expressed pride in how far she has come.
She noted that losing almost 90kg naturally causes the skin to change, and she is doing her best to take care of herself by using collagen, staying healthy, and embracing every stage of the transformation. Yet, every time she posts, some people find something new to criticize.
Plea to Trolls and Fellow Women
Eniola asked, “What exactly do you want from me?” She stated that just because she does not respond to the insults does not mean they do not hurt. She emphasized that she is human, with blood running through her veins just like anyone else, and that words have consequences.
She directed a special plea to women, noting that much of the bullying comes from women. She said, “We often say, ‘Women should support women.’ But where is that support when another woman is fighting to become healthier and happier?” She urged kindness, stating that it costs nothing.
Call for Respect and Kindness
Eniola concluded by saying that nobody deserves to be bullied for being plus-size, and nobody deserves to be bullied for losing weight either. She declared, “I’m proud of my journey. I’m still growing, still healing, and still becoming the best version of myself. You don’t have to love my body, but you can choose to respect it. Be kind. Always.”
