Kelly Clarkson Not Dating Anyone in 2026: Focused on Kids and Career

Kelly Clarkson Remains Single and Not Searching for Love

Kelly Clarkson, the Grammy-winning singer and host of The Kelly Clarkson Show, is not dating anyone publicly as of 2026. The 44-year-old has openly stated that she is not actively looking for a relationship, prioritizing her children, career, and personal well-being after her divorce from Brandon Blackstock.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Clarkson explained her stance: "I haven't even thought about it. Not that I'm against it. I'm not like bitter or, 'Oh, I'm still broken.' I'm not mad at all. I'm very happy. I'm in a great place. But you know, I've lost a bit of me, like in my previous relationship and I love having her back." She added, "I'm just enjoying me and I'm enjoying my children and I'm enjoying my work. I love what I'm doing right now. And I am a little hesitant, because stepparent situations aren't always great for everyone, or even having another person involved."

Clarkson's Divorce from Brandon Blackstock

Kelly Clarkson was married to music manager Brandon Blackstock from October 2013 until their divorce was finalized in 2022. The couple began dating in early 2012 and got engaged in December 2012. They have two children together: daughter River Rose Blackstock, born on 12 June 2014, and son Remington Alexander Blackstock, born on 12 April 2016.

Clarkson filed for divorce in 2020, citing irreconcilable differences. The legal process took nearly two years to complete. Following the separation, Clarkson has spoken about the challenges of divorce and how it influenced her music and life choices. She has emphasized that the experience taught her to prioritize her own happiness and peace.

Dating History Before Marriage

Before marrying Blackstock, Clarkson was linked to a few notable figures in the music industry. Her first public romance was with Justin Guarini, whom she met on the first season of American Idol in 2002. The pair dated secretly after the show and worked together on the 2003 film From Justin to Kelly. Their relationship was short-lived, but they remain friends.

In 2005, Clarkson dated singer-songwriter Graham Colton, who opened for her during the Breakaway tour. The relationship lasted several months, ending due to their demanding schedules. She was also briefly linked to Ryan Key, lead singer of Yellowcard, in 2006. The romance was kept private and lasted only a few months.

Why Dating Is Not a Priority

Clarkson has repeatedly explained that her busy life leaves little room for dating. Between hosting her daytime talk show, recording music, and raising her two children, she feels fulfilled. She has also noted that dating as a public figure attracts unwanted attention, which she prefers to avoid.

In a 2024 interview, she said, "I'm not against dating, but I'm not searching for it. I want any future relationship to happen naturally." As of 2026, she remains single and focused on her career and family.
