Famous Pluto: From Benin City to Nigeria’s Street Pop Therapist
Famous Pluto: Benin City to Nigeria's Street Pop Therapist

Famous Pluto, whose real name is Osahon Uzama, burst onto the Nigerian music scene in 2024 with his catchy phrase "Na Famous Pluto!" He first gained attention on the show Feel D Mood alongside Tega boi DC, Outsyd DJ, and Outsyd Eddie. Since then, the young Benin City popstar has risen through the ranks with his infectious Amapiano-influenced club tracks filled with street slang, groove, and energy.

Early Life and Musical Beginnings

As the youngest of the Uzama siblings, Famous Pluto comes from a family that also produced Nigerian superstars Shallipopi and Zerry DL. He released his debut EP, Uzama The Third, last year, introducing his witty, comical, and party-starting sound to a wider audience. Together, the siblings are part of a growing shift in Afrobeats where indigenous pop fusions are taking center stage, with their 'Beninpiano' sound becoming a staple of Nigerian club nights.

Famous Pluto started writing songs as early as primary school but later focused on dancing before returning to music in 2024. He began doing freestyles in 2020 and posting them on TikTok, but officially started singing in 2024. He adopted the name Famous from a neighbor and added Pluto on the suggestion of his brother Shallipopi.

Growing Up in Benin City

Reflecting on his upbringing in Benin City, Famous Pluto described it as challenging but formative. "Growing up in Benin was not easy, but it was a nice experience. There was always fighting, but we survived," he said. He often moved around, looking for friends and connections. Before music, he started dancing at neighborhood birthday parties, encouraged by his mother to win rice prizes.

He admitted to being confused about his career path at one point, unsure whether to pursue comedy, acting, singing, or dancing. Despite his musical pursuits, he took his WAEC exams last year and plans to study theatre arts in the future.

From Music Promotion to Stardom

Before recording his own songs, Famous Pluto worked in music promotion in 2024. However, he found the grind difficult because he was still attending school and could only deliver videos on weekends. "People would text me, asking why I had not done their videos, but I was still going to school then," he explained. This led him to quit promotion.

His first official song, "Feel D Mood," was released in 2024. Watching his brothers succeed in music, especially Shallipopi's breakthrough with "Elon Musk," motivated him greatly. "They used to tell me, 'What are you doing? You just stay at home, you don't do anything. Try to do something,'" he recalled.

The Making of 'Street Therapist'

Famous Pluto's debut album, Street Therapist, features 10 tracks and includes collaborations with newcomers Zaylevelten, Mavo, Muyeez, Brazy, and industry veteran Zlatan. The album documents his ghetto gospels and hustler ambitions. He started working on the project in 2025 after his EP, with 90 percent of the album recorded in February 2026.

Inspiration for his songs often comes spontaneously. For example, the track "Ewo" was written after a show in Delta State when he was talking to a friend. He describes his creative process as solitary, preferring to be alone in his room or even in the toilet when writing.

Musical Influences and Future Plans

Famous Pluto's strong connection to Amapiano began in 2021 when he started listening to the genre because everyone in Benin was dancing to it. While he plans to continue making Amapiano music, he also wants to explore different sounds, including rave music, even though he has never attended a rave.

Regarding the wave of indigenous-leaning pop music, he noted that when he and his brothers started their sound, many people called it trash because they didn't understand it. "But I don't care. I like being unique," he stated.

The track "Lakute" on the album is named after his friend and was originally a freestyle he did in 2020 that garnered over 100,000 videos on TikTok.

Personal Life and Aspirations

Outside of music, Famous Pluto describes himself as a chill guy who enjoys playing games, table tennis, video games, and watching YouTube. He rarely watches movies. His mother is very proud of his success, especially since his song "Na Scra" was already going viral on TikTok when he left home for Lagos.

The streets of Benin taught him to mind his business and keep believing in himself, no matter what others say. He stays grounded by keeping calm and letting God work. Looking ahead, he envisions himself on a bigger stage and living a better life.

Famous Pluto expressed interest in collaborating with Rema, Lojay, A$AP Rocky, and the late Tupac Shakur.
