The 2026 FIFA World Cup is set to be a spectacular event, not only for football fans but also for music lovers worldwide. FIFA has unveiled an impressive lineup of global superstars who will perform across the tournament's opening ceremonies and the historic first-ever final halftime show. The tournament, which will take place from June 11 to July 19 across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, promises to blend the excitement of football with world-class entertainment.
Three Opening Ceremonies Across North America
For the first time, FIFA will host three separate opening ceremonies in each host country. The United States opening ceremony will take place on June 12 in Los Angeles, featuring a stellar lineup including Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, BLACKPINK's LISA, Nigeria's Rema, and South Africa's Tyla. Grammy-nominated artist Rema, who was recently named to the 2025 TIME100 Next list, represents the growing global influence of Afrobeats.
Canada's opening ceremony on June 12 in Toronto will showcase Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Elyanna, Jessie Reyez, Michael Bublé, Nora Fatehi, Sanjoy, Vegedream, and William Prince. Mexico's opening ceremony on June 11 in Mexico City will feature Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Danny Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Maná, and Tyla.
Historic Final Halftime Show
In a groundbreaking move, the World Cup final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey will include a halftime show for the first time in the tournament's history. Curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, the show will be headlined by BTS, Madonna, and Shakira. The performance will also feature characters from Sesame Street and The Muppets. Notably, while Burna Boy appears on the official World Cup anthem 'Dai Dai' with Shakira, he is not expected to perform during the halftime show.
Supporting Global Education
The final halftime show will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise $100 million for children's education by the end of the tournament. This initiative highlights FIFA's commitment to using the World Cup as a platform for positive social impact.
With such an extraordinary musical lineup, the 2026 FIFA World Cup is poised to be an unforgettable celebration of sport and culture.
