Veteran Nigerian broadcaster Morayo Afolabi-Brown has officially launched a new daily television programme designed to reshape national conversation. The show, named The Morayo Show, is a live audience talk programme that aims to promote deeper listening, inclusion, and collective understanding across Nigeria's diverse society.
A Bold Career Move Anchored in Purpose
With over two decades of experience in broadcast media, Afolabi-Brown is best known for her long tenure as co-host of the popular programme YourView. She expressed gratitude for that platform but explained a significant internal shift prompted her departure. "After 12 years, something within me shifted," she stated. In August, she made the bold decision to leave TVC Communications, describing it as a move driven by a larger vision.
"I stepped away not because the platform was small, but because the vision had become bigger," Afolabi-Brown revealed. "I realised I was no longer fulfilled simply talking at people. I felt a strong pull, one I can only describe as a divine assignment to begin speaking with people." This conviction is the foundation of her new venture.
Filling a Critical Gap in Nigerian Public Discourse
The broadcaster identified a crucial missing element in the nation's public life as the inspiration for the show's format. "I believe deeply that Nigeria does not suffer from a lack of opinions; we suffer from a lack of listening," she asserted. "We do not lack talent, we lack safe, credible spaces for expression."
To address this, The Morayo Show is structured as a participatory platform where the audience are active contributors, not passive viewers. The programme will explore a wide range of topics through the lens of everyday Nigerians, including:
- Society, culture, and national issues
- Relationships, family, and identity
- Leadership, business, and creativity
- Faith and personal development
"This show is not about shouting the loudest. It is about understanding deeply. It is not about trends; it is about impact," Afolabi-Brown emphasised.
Launch Details and Industry Support
The programme is scheduled to premiere on January 5, 2026. It will air live every weekday, streaming primarily on YouTube with syndication on major networks including News Central TV, TVC Entertainment, and NTA.
The show will be produced from a new, ultra-modern studio on the Lagos Mainland, described as the first premium live television studio of its kind in the area. Afolabi-Brown highlighted its symbolic importance: "This studio is not just a media facility. It is a space for dialogue, a home for truth, and a platform for voices that need to be heard."
Media partners have welcomed the initiative. Kayode Akintemi, Editor-in-Chief of News Central Television, said the partnership aligns with their vision for credible media. "The Morayo Show aligns firmly with our commitment to put our finger on the pulse of the nation," he stated.
Similarly, Olukunle Folarin, Director of Programmes at TVC Entertainment, described the show as a natural evolution in Afolabi-Brown's career and a project that supports inclusive dialogue and positive change.
