Former Big Brother Naija reality star, Tacha, has launched a scathing criticism against popular online vendor, Aunty Esther, for her controversial decision to refuse a blood transfusion while undergoing treatment for breast cancer. This comes after sympathetic Nigerians raised over N30 million to support her medical care.
Outrage Over Rejected Medical Advice
The controversy erupted when handlers of the funds raised for Aunty Esther disclosed on social media platform X that she had declined a medically recommended blood transfusion at the hospital. Aunty Esther, known for her consistent business promotions online, had previously revealed her breast cancer diagnosis and her initial preference for natural treatment methods.
The public, which had rallied to support her with significant financial contributions, expressed widespread frustration and outrage upon learning of her refusal. The disclosure on December 6, 2025, sparked a heated debate across social media, with many questioning the logic behind rejecting a potentially life-saving procedure.
Tacha's Furious Reaction
Weighing in on the debate, Tacha did not hold back. She strongly condemned the decision, linking it to religious justifications which she labeled as 'hypocritical'. The reality TV star argued that the act was against the fundamental principle of preserving life.
"Honestly y’all, if somebody wants to die, I don’t see the argument. You people should allow the person die," Tacha wrote. "I don’t see reasons trying to save someone who doesn't want to be saved. This isn't about religious belief. It's just pure madness."
She expressed no surprise at Esther's stance, accusing her of a history of reckless behavior on social media, even during somber moments. Tacha directly challenged the religious argument often used to refuse transfusions.
"Big hypocrites! Isn’t it funny how your religion allows you to lie? Listen! If you can lie, you can steal and cheat. Your religion permits all that but won't allow a blood transfusion to save your OWN life??" she queried.
Calls to Redirect Funds and Public Backlash
Tacha further suggested that the substantial sum raised by the public should be channeled to others in genuine need of medical assistance. "That 30 million Naira raised can save 50–100 lives in today’s Nigeria! Just channel the funds to people who want to live, and let those who want to die do so in peace," she stated.
The fundraising effort, notably spearheaded by influencer Wizarab, had even attracted a generous donation from superstar footballer Victor Osimhen. However, Aunty Esther's initial rejection of modern medicine, only to seek help when her health severely deteriorated, added layers to the public's complex reaction.
Reactions on X were divided. User @anasuachara urged compassion, stating she refused based on faith, not a wish to die. Others, like @odirah_cellz, pointed out the inconsistency in religious extremism, while @kingkhone4real criticized the online virtue-signaling of donors.
The incident highlights the ongoing tension between modern medical practices, personal religious convictions, and the court of public opinion, especially when communal generosity is involved.
