Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has terminated the appointments of all his advisers, assistants, and the deputy chief of staff, according to a statement issued early Monday by his Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Mashood Agboola.
Affected Appointments
The decision affects special advisers, advisers, special assistants, and assistants to the governor, as well as the principal private secretary to the governor. The statement read: "His Excellency expresses his gratitude to all the appointees for their priceless service to the state. He wishes them the best in their future endeavours."
Handover of Government Property
Governor AbdulRazaq has directed all affected appointees to hand over any government property in their custody to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government. The move comes as the governor, whose second term ends in May next year, prepares to run for a Senate seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Political Context
AbdulRazaq's decision to dismiss his entire advisory team is seen as a strategic reshuffle ahead of his transition from the governorship to a potential Senate role. The governor has not yet announced replacements for the sacked officials.
