NANS Alerts DSS Over Alleged Plot to Sabotage Tinubu's Reforms, Cites Fake Group
NANS Petitions DSS Over Plot to Sabotage Tinubu's Reforms

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has raised a formal alarm with the nation's secret police, the Department of State Services (DSS), over what it describes as a coordinated campaign to destabilize the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Student Body Sounds Alarm on National Stability

Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, NANS Public Relations Officer, Samson Adeyemi, stated that the association submitted a petition out of deep concern for national stability and democratic governance. Adeyemi emphasized that NANS, as an organization dedicated to peace and constitutional order, felt compelled to act against an emerging plot disguised as a fight against corruption.

He revealed that the association's attention was drawn to a flurry of allegations targeting key reform institutions, with a particular focus on the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP). These allegations, according to NANS, are being pushed by a dubious entity known as the Nigeria Coalition for Justice and Accountability.

Questions Over Shadowy Group and Alleged Collaborators

The student body expressed serious doubts about the credibility of this group, noting that its structure, leadership, and even the verifiable identity of the person signing its petition remain unclear. NANS claims to have intelligence suggesting this "faceless" group is working with certain opposition political figures and disgruntled elements within the system.

These elements allegedly include some staff of the BPP who are reportedly unhappy with the sweeping reforms being implemented under President Tinubu and professionally coordinated at the agency by its Director-General, Dr. Adebowale Adedokun.

Adeyemi further disclosed that these actors have already staged a protest at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and are planning another demonstration in Lagos. While acknowledging the constitutional right to protest, NANS suspects these actions are not driven by genuine accountability concerns.

Call for DSS Intervention and Preventive Action

NANS fears that these activities, if unchecked, could degenerate into a breakdown of law and order. The association, describing Nigerian youths as peace-loving but vigilant, argued that preventive intelligence action is preferable to allowing situations that could spark unnecessary confrontation or heighten national tension.

In its petition, NANS formally called on the DSS to:

  • Investigate the true identity, funding, and motives of the Nigeria Coalition for Justice and Accountability.
  • Examine any alleged collaboration between political actors and disaffected public officers aimed at sabotaging ongoing reforms.
  • Prevent any actions capable of threatening public peace and national stability.
  • Ensure anyone found culpable, inside or outside government, is brought to justice.

The student body expressed confidence in the DSS's professionalism and patriotism, believing a timely intervention would safeguard national security and preserve the integrity of the reform agenda. NANS reassured Nigerians of its unwavering commitment to peace, democracy, and constructive civic engagement, guided by the desire to protect the nation's stability and the future of its youth.
