Hisbah Operatives Apprehend 25 in Argungu Hotel Raid
Operatives of the Kebbi Hisbah Board, operating under the state's Ministry of Religious Affairs, have arrested 25 youths in Argungu town on allegations of engaging in immoral acts. The raid, conducted on July 3, 2026, targeted a hotel in the area, leading to the detention of 12 males and 13 females, according to the Board's Director of Shariah, Sirajo Kamba.
Kamba confirmed the operation in a statement released to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday, July 4, 2026. He stated, “On July 3, the Kebbi Hisbah Board carried out a raid at a hotel in Argungu and successfully apprehended 25 suspects allegedly involved in immoral activities.” The director emphasized that the arrests were part of ongoing efforts to curb social vices and promote moral values across Kebbi State.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings Underway
Kamba further noted that the board would conduct a thorough investigation in accordance with the law. “Anyone found culpable will face the appropriate legal process,” he added. The operation underscores the Hisbah Board's commitment to maintaining peace and decency in the state, as it continues to monitor and enforce moral standards.
The arrests have sparked discussions among residents, with some supporting the board's actions and others questioning the methods.
