Police Arrest Taraba Student with Revolver
The Taraba State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old student, identified as Ibrahim Musa, and recovered a locally made revolver with two live cartridges. The arrest was made on Saturday during a stop-and-search operation along the Jalingo-Wukari Road in Jalingo, the state capital.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Usman Abdullahi, the suspect was stopped by police operatives on routine patrol. During the search, the revolver and cartridges were found concealed in his bag. Abdullahi stated that the suspect could not provide a valid license or explanation for possessing the firearm.
Suspect in Custody as Investigation Continues
The PPRO confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Jalingo. He added that investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the weapon and whether the suspect has any links to criminal activities in the region.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo, has ordered a thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the possession of the firearm. The command is committed to ensuring that all individuals found with illegal weapons are brought to justice,” Abdullahi said.
Police Intensify Anti-Crime Operations
This arrest is part of the command’s intensified efforts to curb the proliferation of illegal firearms and reduce crime in Taraba State. The police have urged residents to report any suspicious activities and to cooperate with security agencies in their bid to maintain peace and order.
