Fresh Kidnapping Terror Grips Kwara Community

Armed bandits have struck again in Kwara State, abducting eleven residents of Isapa community in Ekiti Local Government Area. The attack occurred around 6:00 p.m. on Monday, sending shockwaves through the already traumatized region.

According to eyewitness accounts, between 20 and 30 armed men stormed the community, firing sporadically as they advanced. The terrifying assault forced many residents to flee for their lives while the kidnappers selected their victims.

Victims Include Most Vulnerable

The abducted residents represent some of the community's most vulnerable members. A community leader speaking under strict anonymity confirmed that seven victims came from the same household.

The kidnapped individuals include:

  • Talatu Kabiru, 20
  • Magaji, 6
  • Kande, 5
  • Hadiza, 10
  • Mariam, 6
  • Saima, 5
  • Habibat (housewife)
  • Fatima Yusufu (housewife)
  • Sarah Sunday, 22 (pregnant woman)
  • Lami Fidelis, 23 (nursing mother)
  • Haja Na Allah (nursing mother)

During the chaotic attack, an elderly woman was reportedly struck by a stray bullet, adding to the community's trauma.

Attack Follows Church Kidnapping Resolution

This latest incident comes barely 24 hours after victims abducted during a church service were released. The timing is particularly alarming as it demonstrates the persistent security challenges facing the region.

Just a day earlier, Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku had been holding a thanksgiving service to celebrate the freedom of 18 worshippers kidnapped approximately one month ago. During that same service, gunmen had stormed the church, killing three people and abducting 38 worshippers.

Evidence of the violent attack remains visible throughout Isapa, with eyewitnesses reporting bullet holes in walls and doors. Security personnel later recovered expended AK-47 shells from multiple locations within the community.

Security Response and National Crisis

Commissioner of Police Adekimi Ojo confirmed the incident to Daily Trust, stating, "Yes, there was an incident, but I cannot say much now. I am about to enter Isapa from Ilorin. I will update you when I get there."

The situation has heightened tension across Isapa and neighboring settlements as security agencies and local vigilante groups intensify efforts to locate the kidnappers and rescue the victims.

This incident occurs against the backdrop of Nigeria's worsening security crisis, which has already led to mass closures of schools, particularly in the northern region. The frequency and boldness of such attacks continue to raise serious concerns about public safety nationwide.

Families of the abducted now face an agonizing wait as security forces work to secure the release of their loved ones. The community of Isapa joins countless others across Nigeria living in fear amid the escalating security challenges.
