Amotekun Corps Intensifies Security Measures for Ondo Schools

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has initiated comprehensive patrol operations specifically designed to protect boarding schools throughout the state. This decisive action comes as a direct response to growing concerns about security breaches and kidnapping incidents targeting educational institutions.

Security Operations and Arrests

Mr. Adetunji Adeleye, the Commander of the Amotekun Corps, officially confirmed this security enhancement during a media briefing held in Akure on Tuesday, November 25. The event also featured the presentation of 16 suspects detained for various criminal activities.

According to Commander Adeleye, the security agency has implemented complete surveillance systems around schools with boarding facilities, with particular attention to institutions located in border communities and remote areas. "In the last one week, we've visited so many of the schools, and mounted surveillance on all those with boarding facilities. Especially the schools in the border towns of the state and the outskirts of the towns," Adeleye emphasized during his address to journalists.

Enhanced Security Measures

The security reinforcement includes two major components that have been significantly strengthened:

  1. The 24-hour Ember month patrol has been intensified across the state
  2. Operation Le Won Jade border patrol launched on November 6 has been expanded to enhance border security

Adeleye reported that these intensified border security efforts have produced significant results, successfully dislodging criminal elements including miscreants, bandits, and kidnappers from forest hideouts. Regular 24-hour patrols continue to operate within metropolitan areas, yielding additional positive outcomes in urban security.

Arrest Statistics and Public Assurance

The security operations have led to substantial law enforcement achievements, with 34 total arrests recorded within the past week. Of these detainees, 16 suspects were presented to the media during Tuesday's briefing, demonstrating the Corps' operational effectiveness.

Commander Adeleye concluded his remarks with a firm commitment to residents, stating: "I want to reassure residents of the state that the security agencies are ensuring that safety of lives and property in Ondo State is guaranteed." This assurance comes as parents and school administrators express relief at the heightened security measures protecting educational environments.
