Residents of Isapa community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State are living in fear after armed kidnappers issued a chilling one-week ultimatum. The bandits are demanding a staggering N300 million ransom for the release of ten victims abducted from the community.
Deadline and Dire Threats
The kidnappers made contact with the community on Sunday, setting a firm seven-day deadline for the payment. They delivered a grim warning: failure to meet their demand would result in the execution of the abductees. Furthermore, the armed men vowed to launch a fresh, bloody assault on Isapa itself, promising to kill a lot of people in the process.
Mr. A. Adeyeye, the head hunter of the Isapa community, confirmed the terrifying development. He revealed that the initial ransom demand was an even more exorbitant N500 million, which was negotiated down to the current N300 million figure. Community leaders attempted to plead for mercy, offering N5 million, but the bandits flatly rejected the sum.
Connection to Wider Violence
In a disturbing twist, the assailants also claimed responsibility for a previous attack on the Ejiba community in neighbouring Kogi State. This admission suggests the group is operating across state lines and is responsible for a wider pattern of violence in the region.
The abduction itself took place on November 25, 2025, when the bandits stormed the quiet community and seized the ten individuals. The new ransom ultimatum has plunged the area into a state of anxiety and desperation, with families and community leaders scrambling for a solution under the threat of imminent violence.
Community in Crisis
The situation highlights the severe security challenges facing many rural communities in Nigeria. The audacious demand for hundreds of millions of naira and the explicit threats of mass killing represent a severe escalation in tactics. The people of Isapa are now caught between the impossible task of raising an astronomical sum and the terrifying prospect of a brutal attack if they fail.
Local authorities and security agencies are yet to make an official statement regarding this specific ultimatum. The clock is ticking for the ten captives and the entire Isapa community, who await their fate as the seven-day deadline draws closer.
