Kogi Kidnapping: N60m Ransom Demand for Mother

A distraught son has shared alarming new details about his mother's abduction in Kogi State, revealing that kidnappers are demanding a staggering 60 million naira ransom for her release while she endures physical abuse in captivity.

Heartbreaking Update from Captivity

The victim's son, identified as @dope_demonxx on X (formerly Twitter), disclosed that the kidnappers made direct contact with his family using a phone number they provided. In an emotional post that has drawn widespread sympathy, he explained that his mother managed to call her younger sister using the kidnappers' phone.

"Update on my mom issue," he wrote. "I just called my junior sister and also spoke to my mom's junior sister. She said my mom called with a different number given to them by the bandit kidnapper that they're requesting 60 million naira."

Victim Suffering Physical Abuse

In a subsequent post that highlighted the grim reality of the situation, the man revealed that his mother is experiencing significant physical pain at the hands of her captors. The kidnappers are reportedly beating both adults and children being held captive.

His emotional X post read: "They're beating the adult and even the children there. My mom was telling her junior sister that she's in pain. I don't even know what to type. I'm finished. 60 million."

The abduction occurred while the woman was traveling to Abuja by road. She was taken in Kabba, Kogi State, adding to the growing list of security incidents along Nigerian highways.

Public Outrage and Reactions

The shocking ransom demand and details of the victim's suffering have sparked outrage among social media users, with many questioning the logic behind such exorbitant demands from kidnappers.

@UcheMaryOkoli expressed disbelief: "If she had 60 million, would she have boarded an 18-seater hiace bus? Why are these people so wicked?"

@_blaqmax shared personal experience: "Menh i so much hate kidnappers more than the devil. Had my fair share some years back. Your mom will come back. God will see you through this bro."

@acho_official questioned the rationality of the demand: "60m? These guys have no chill at all. Are they taking a look at the person they're requesting that kind of money from?"

@Samlos93 raised concerns about security effectiveness: "But why is it that our security can't apprehend them? Can I say they're working together with security? What of village hunters that used to hunt in the bush those days?"

The case highlights the ongoing security challenges in Kogi State and across Nigeria, where kidnappings for ransom have become increasingly common. Families of victims often face impossible financial demands while their loved ones suffer in captivity.
