In a shocking turn of events, Kebbi State Police have arrested a mother for allegedly orchestrating the kidnapping of her own four-year-old son. The incident, which has sent ripples through the local community, culminated in a ransom demand of five million naira made to the child's father.
The Abduction and Ransom Demand
The young victim, identified as Abdulmumini Surajo, was reported missing on November 26, 2025, in the Koko Local Government Area. The situation took a dramatic turn later the same day when the boy's father received a distressing phone call. An unknown female voice was on the line, issuing a stark demand for the sum of five million naira (N5,000,000) as a condition for the child's safe return.
Police Investigation and Arrest
Acting swiftly on the report, police detectives launched an investigation to trace the source of the ransom call. According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the authorities successfully tracked the communication. The investigation led them to the alleged perpetrator: Maryam Muhammad, a 25-year-old married woman from the same area.
In a surprising revelation, the suspect was none other than the missing boy's mother. Maryam Muhammad was promptly arrested and, during interrogation, confessed to her involvement in the crime. Her motives for the alleged kidnapping of her own child are currently under investigation by the police.
Successful Rescue Operation
The concerted efforts of the security operatives paid off with the safe recovery of the child. Abdulmumini Surajo was rescued unhurt on November 29, 2025, at approximately 6:08 p.m. The location of the rescue was Mahuta, situated within the Fakai Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
This case highlights a disturbing trend of familial involvement in kidnapping for ransom, a crime that continues to plague various regions. The swift action by the police in Kebbi prevented a potential tragedy and led to the arrest of the prime suspect. The community and authorities are now left to ponder the circumstances that could drive a parent to such an extreme act against their own child.
