Bandits Abduct Baptist Pastor and Three Daughters in Late-Night Kaduna Raid

In a distressing incident that highlights the ongoing security challenges in northern Nigeria, bandits have abducted a Baptist Church cleric, Pastor Daniel Bagama, along with his three daughters. The attack occurred at Tudun Bussa village, located within the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Details of the Violent Incident

According to reports, armed gunmen stormed the community late on Sunday night, January 18, 2026, at approximately 11 pm. The attackers began shooting sporadically, creating panic among residents, before heading directly to the pastor's residence. There, they forcibly whisked away Pastor Bagama and his three daughters to an unknown destination, leaving the village in a state of fear and uncertainty.

Official Confirmation from Church and CAN Authorities

The abduction was disclosed in a letter written by Rev. Ishaya Adamu Jangado, the Conference President of the Kaduna Baptist Conference. The letter, which was copied to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), formally informed the association about the tragic event. Rev. Jangado stated, "I write to inform you that bandits have abducted a Baptist Church Pastor, Pastor Daniel Bagama and his three daughters at Tudun Bussa village, Chikun local government area of Kaduna state."

Further confirmation came from Rev. Caleb Ma'aji Bawa, the Kaduna State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria. He verified the abduction, emphasizing the gravity of the situation and the need for urgent action to secure the release of the victims.

Community Impact and Broader Implications

This incident underscores the persistent threat posed by banditry in Kaduna State and other parts of northern Nigeria. The targeted abduction of a religious leader and his family members not only disrupts the peace of the local community but also raises concerns about the safety of clergy and civilians in vulnerable areas.

Authorities and security agencies are expected to intensify efforts to rescue the abducted individuals and prevent similar occurrences in the future. The Christian Association of Nigeria and other stakeholders are likely to advocate for enhanced security measures to protect communities from such violent attacks.
