Borno Police Rescue 2 Kidnapped Boys After N10m Ransom Demand
Police Rescue 2 Kidnapped Boys in Borno

The Borno State Police Command has successfully rescued two young boys who were abducted in the Jere Local Government Area of the state. The operation was launched after the kidnappers demanded a hefty ransom of ten million naira for the children's release.

How the Kidnapping and Rescue Unfolded

On December 4, 2025, a report concerning three missing children was officially lodged at the Jere Police Divisional Headquarters. This prompted the police to initiate an immediate and intensive investigation into the disappearance.

Later that same day, a disturbing development occurred. One of the three abducted children was found dropped at the entrance to his family home in Jere. With the child was a threatening note. The kidnappers used the note to demand a ransom of Ten Million Naira (N10,000,000) for the safe return of the two remaining boys, aged 4 and 5 years.

The Police Ambush and Successful Recovery

Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) mobilized a team of operatives. On December 5, 2025, the team strategically laid an ambush at the location proposed by the kidnappers for the ransom collection.

The police spokesperson, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, stated that at about 3:00 AM, the abductors arrived but grew suspicious of police movements in the area. In a state of panic, they abandoned the two young boys along with a decoy ransom package and fled the scene.

Efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects at that moment were unsuccessful, largely due to poor visibility. However, the primary objective was achieved: the two boys were rescued unharmed and have since been safely reunited with their relieved family.

Command's Response and Public Advisory

The Commissioner of Police for Borno State, CP Naziru Abdulmajid psc, has directed a discreet but intensive investigation to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects. He commended the operation as another significant breakthrough in the command's sustained fight against kidnapping and violent crimes.

In response to the recent upsurge in such criminal activities, the CP has issued fresh orders to all Tactical Commanders and Divisional Police Officers. They are to:

  • Heighten patrols across the state.
  • Conduct aggressive stop-and-search operations.
  • Sustain high-visibility policing to deter criminals.

The police command also advises members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station immediately. The public can use the following emergency contact numbers: 0806 807 5581 and 0802 347 3293.
