Borno govt confirms 36 students, 1 teacher still held

The Borno State Government has confirmed that 37 people, comprising 36 students and one teacher, remain in captivity following Monday's terrorist attack on Government Day Secondary School (GDSS), Lassa, in Askira/Uba Local Government Area.

Attack during NECO examinations

According to the state government, the victims were abducted while sitting the National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations. Some of the abducted students were rescued by the military shortly after the attack.

The Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Lawan Wakilbe, disclosed this on Tuesday during an assessment visit to Lassa, where he led a government delegation to meet with education stakeholders, community leaders and parents of the abducted students.
