The National Coalition Against Mass Killings, Extra-Judicial Killings, Mob Actions and Impunity (NCAMKI) has voiced deep concern over the escalating insecurity, kidnappings, and mass killings across Nigeria. The group lamented that while citizens suffer from criminal violence and state neglect, political leaders remain preoccupied with power struggles and electioneering.
Alarming Security Situation
In a statement signed by Tunde Agunbiade, NCAMKI highlighted that communities are under siege, schools are unsafe, and families are traumatized. The coalition noted that between January 1 and May 28, 2026, an estimated 200 to 400 children were abducted by terrorists and armed groups, with many killed during attacks. At least 81 schoolchildren remained in captivity as of May 28, and over 1,100 persons were abducted between January and April 2026.
Call for Urgent Action
NCAMKI warned against ethnic profiling, mob justice, and vigilante excesses, stressing that the crisis is a national moral emergency. The coalition called on governments, the National Assembly, civil society, and international bodies to defend democracy and human rights before the situation worsens. “The bloodshed must stop. The impunity must stop,” the statement concluded.
