The Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has initiated a special enforcement operation targeting the use of fake and unauthorized number plates, vehicle overloading, and unsafe haulage practices. The operation, codenamed “Operation Guduma,” is a strategic intervention patrol designed to reduce fatal road crashes nationwide.
Operation Details
According to the command’s spokesperson, Afolabi Odunsi, enforcement teams assigned to the operation will monitor and prosecute offenders involved in the use of fake diplomatic license plates, overloading, mixed loading, and the transportation of unsecured containers. The operation is being conducted in strict compliance with directives from the Corps National Headquarters and is supervised by Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) JO Asaolu, who was appointed by the Corps Marshal to oversee the special intervention.
Collaboration and Enforcement
The operation is carried out in collaboration with the Ogun State Sector Commander, RS2.2, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi. Speaking on the initiative, Ogunjobi urged motorists, transport operators, fleet managers, and other road users in the state to fully comply with traffic regulations both during and after the enforcement period. He reiterated that the command maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards traffic violations that endanger lives and property, emphasizing that the safety of all road users remains the Corps’ top priority.
The FRSC continues to intensify efforts to ensure road safety across Nigeria, with this operation marking a significant step towards curbing illegal practices on the roads.
