The Ogun State Police Command has deployed 2,500 personnel to strengthen proactive security arrangements for the 2026 Ojude-Oba celebrations. This measure aims to ensure adequate security, public safety, and a peaceful and hitch-free festival across the state.

The deployed personnel consist of conventional officers and tactical teams drawn from the Police Mobile Force (PMF), SWAT, Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Monitoring Unit, Force Intelligence Department, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (EOD-CBRN), Motor Traffic Department (MTD), and other specialised operational units. These teams will operate across Ijebu-Ode and adjoining communities where the festival will be celebrated.

President Tinubu Congratulates Governor Abiodun

Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on his 66th birthday. He commended the governor's administration for its people-centred approach to governance and remarkable developmental strides across the state.

In a statement yesterday, Tinubu described Abiodun, who also serves as Chairman of the Southern Governors' Forum, as a committed leader whose policies and programmes have significantly elevated the standard of governance in Ogun State. The President noted that Abiodun's birthday coincides with his seventh year in office, a period that has witnessed notable progress through the implementation of the administration's 'Building Our Future Together' agenda.

He further lauded the governor's role in advancing Ogun State's industrial revolution and enhancing the ease of doing business in the state, noting that such achievements align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government.

Security Measures and Directives

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police (CP), Bode Ojajuni, also directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders to remain on maximum alert. They are instructed to sustain aggressive patrols, strategic stop-and-search operations, and round-the-clock supervision of personnel within their areas of responsibility.

Ojajuni stated that special operational attention has been focused on strategic routes, including the Sagamu Interchange, Ijebu-Ode–Benin Expressway, Molipa axis, and adjoining communities. This is to prevent criminal activities, traffic obstruction, and any act capable of disrupting public peace.

He equally directed officers and men deployed for the operation to maintain professionalism, civility, and respect for the rights of law-abiding citizens while discharging their duties.

Appeal to the Public

The CP urged residents, visitors, and participants at the Ojude-Oba festival to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and security-conscious throughout the period. He advised parents and guardians to closely monitor the activities and movement of their children and wards. Members of the public were urged to promptly report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police formation or through the Command's emergency lines.
