The Commissioner of Police for the Ports Authority Police, Western Command, Oluwatoyin Agbaminoja, has announced that comprehensive security measures are now operational across all of the nation's seaports, terminals, jetties, waterways, and other critical maritime infrastructure. This initiative aims to guarantee a peaceful and hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
In a statement released on Tuesday and signed by the command's Police Public Relations Officer, Isaac Hundeyin, the commissioner confirmed that officers and personnel have been strategically positioned to strengthen surveillance, enhance visibility policing, and protect lives and property before, during, and after the festivities.
The commissioner urged all residents and visitors within the port environment to embrace the values of peace, unity, and mutual respect throughout the celebration period. She stated, "As Nigerians commemorate this important religious festival, which symbolizes sacrifice, obedience, tolerance, and love, I heartily felicitate with Muslim faithful, maritime stakeholders, port users, and the general public on this joyous occasion."
Agbaminoja further called on members of the public, port operators, transport unions, and maritime stakeholders to remain security conscious and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest port police formation. While wishing Muslim faithful a joyous and spiritually fulfilling Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the commissioner reassured the public of the command's unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order. She also emphasized that the command would ensure safety within the port corridors and sustain effective policing to support Nigeria's maritime economy.
