A severe auto crash occurred at Odogbolu junction along the Sagamu-Ore Expressway in Ogun State, resulting in injuries to 13 individuals, including three children. The incident involved a Blue Toyota Varso with registration number FKJ 492 HT and an Ash Mercedes Benz with registration number KJA 14 KK.

Rescue and Response Efforts

Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), confirmed that 18 people were involved in the accident: 10 males, five females, and three children. Fortunately, there were no fatalities reported. Operatives from TRACE, Amotekun Corps, and the Police were promptly on the scene to conduct rescue missions and manage the situation.

Cause of the Accident

The TRACE Information Officer stated that the crash was caused by excessive speed on the part of the driver of the Mercedes Benz. The driver lost control of the vehicle and collided head-on with the Toyota car. Eyewitnesses corroborated this, noting that the Mercedes Benz, which was inbound Sagamu, rammed into the Blue Toyota Varso that was heading towards Odogbolu junction.

Medical Treatment and Traffic Impact

The injured victims were taken to IDERA Hospital in Odogbolu and Babcock University Hospital for medical treatment. Akinbiyi added that the traffic disruption caused during the rescue operation has since returned to normalcy, allowing for smoother flow along the expressway.
