The drone entered Romanian airspace at 1:54 a.m., disappearing from radar tracking just south of Galati before its full military payload detonated upon impacting the roof of the high-rise structure. The blast resulted in extensive structural damage to the top floor, forcing emergency response teams to evacuate residents from the affected sections of the building.
Galati sits in a highly sensitive border zone in far southeastern Romania, positioned directly across the river from Izmail, which is home to Ukraine's largest Danube port and remains a frequent target for Russian air strikes.
