Senator Ali Ndume Exposes Alarming New Terrorist Tactics Involving Keke Napep Bomb Deliveries
Borno South Senator Ali Ndume has issued a grave warning about the evolving and increasingly sophisticated methods being employed by terrorist and bandit groups across Nigeria. During an appearance on Channels Television's Politics Today program, the lawmaker detailed how these criminal elements have become more organized and dangerous, posing a significant threat to national security.
Unconventional Delivery Methods and Local Informant Networks
According to Senator Ndume, insurgent groups now heavily rely on unconventional delivery mechanisms and extensive networks of local informants to execute their attacks. He explained that these groups typically operate using hit-and-run tactics, gathering critical intelligence and coordinating their movements within communities before striking their targets.
"What they do is hit and run. They gather around, pass information among themselves, and most dangerously, they get information from some citizens too. They have informants within the society," Ndume stated during the television interview.
Keke Napep as Explosive Transport Vehicles
The senator revealed one of the most disturbing new developments: terrorists are now utilizing commercial tricycles, popularly known as Keke Napep, to transport explosive devices to predetermined locations. This method allows them to blend into everyday traffic while delivering deadly payloads to specific spots.
"You can imagine, even the bomb that exploded, it was delivered by Keke Napep. They package it and give it to people in Keke Napep to deliver at specific spots," Ndume disclosed, highlighting how ordinary transportation vehicles have been weaponized by these groups.
Understanding Terrorist Operational Patterns
Ndume emphasized his understanding of these groups' operational methodologies, noting their constant efforts to infiltrate communities, carry out attacks, and escape before security forces can respond effectively.
"I understand their mode of operation moving around, trying to find a way in to carry out their activities and escape," the senator explained, underscoring the calculated nature of these security threats.
Intelligence Failures and Social Media Audacity
The lawmaker placed significant blame for the deteriorating security situation on inadequate intelligence gathering, stressing that authorities must urgently strengthen surveillance capabilities and information networks to counter these evolving threats.
Adding to the concern, Ndume revealed that some terrorist groups have grown bold enough to record and openly share their violent activities on social media platforms, demonstrating a disturbing level of confidence.
"You can imagine bandits and terrorists in Nigeria having the audacity to record their atrocities on TikTok and send it out to people," he expressed with evident concern about this new dimension of psychological warfare.
The senator's revelations paint a troubling picture of increasingly sophisticated terrorist operations that demand immediate and comprehensive security responses from Nigerian authorities.
