The Coalition for National Security and Democratic Stability (CNSDS) has commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their recent successes in the fight against terrorism and crime. According to the group, troops neutralized 317 terrorists and criminal suspects and rescued 221 kidnapped civilians in May 2026.
Improved Military Coordination
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, CNSDS President Samuel Agada praised the Chief of Defence Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, for strategic leadership. Agada noted that the achievements reflect stronger collaboration among the military, intelligence agencies, and other security institutions.
The Defence Headquarters reported that troops across various theatres killed 317 terrorists, arrested 314 suspects, and rescued 221 kidnapped citizens. Operations also led to the recovery of weapons, dismantling of illegal arms factories, and destruction of oil theft facilities.
Protecting Communities
Agada emphasized that the figures represent real progress. “These are not just statistics. They signify communities protected, lives saved, and criminal networks disrupted through the courage and professionalism of our troops,” he said. He commended operations against Boko Haram and ISWAP in the north-east, highlighting the rescue of abducted women and children as a major humanitarian achievement.
Targeting Criminal Infrastructure
The coalition welcomed the destruction of illegal arms manufacturing sites and the interception of logistics supplies used by criminal groups. Agada stated that targeting the infrastructure sustaining insecurity is a crucial step. Operations against crude oil theft syndicates in the Niger Delta were also praised for safeguarding Nigeria’s economic interests.
Agada urged Nigerians to support security agencies with timely intelligence and expressed condolences to families of fallen soldiers. “National security is a collective responsibility. Citizens must cooperate by sharing credible information,” he added.

In a separate statement, the National Coalition for Peace and Democracy lauded the killing of Abu-Bilal Al-Minuki, a senior Islamic State commander. President Dr. Moses Okella said this demonstrates the effectiveness of Nigeria’s counter-terrorism operations, reflecting improved coordination and intelligence capacity.
