Troops of the 152 Task Force Battalion operating under the auspices of Operation HADIN KAI have successfully neutralized a suspected spy linked to the Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wayt wa'l-Jihād (JAS) and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a night patrol along the Banki border perimeter fence in Borno State.

Incident Details

The event unfolded when troops stationed at the A17 axis detected unusual movement near the Cameroonian border approach heading toward Banki town. Security sources confirmed that the suspect was observed attempting to scale the perimeter fence, an action believed to be aimed at monitoring troop activities in the vicinity.

“The individual was observed jumping the border fence from the Cameroonian axis towards Banki town in what appeared to be an attempt to gather intelligence on troop movements,” the sources stated.

The troops promptly engaged the suspect, who was neutralized during the operation. Following the incident, a comprehensive sweeping operation of the surrounding area was conducted to locate any other potential terrorists, but no further contacts were made.
