US President Donald Trump's doctor has declared him in 'excellent health' after a medical evaluation at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Dr. Sean Barbabella stated that Trump is 'fully fit' to serve following comprehensive tests including CT scans, heart imaging, cancer screenings, and preventive assessments by 22 specialists.
Trump's Cognitive Test Claims
Trump, 79, described the three-hour visit as 'perfect' and emphasized his performance on a cognitive assessment. On Truth Social, he claimed a perfect 30 out of 30 on a difficult test, asserting that no other US president has taken such an approved, high-difficulty cognitive exam. 'Unlike other US presidents, none of whom have ever taken an approved, high-difficulty cognitive test, I scored a perfect 30 out of 30, considered 'extreme intelligence,'' Trump wrote. 'In fact, this is my fourth such test, all perfect.'
Experts Raise Concerns
Reports suggest the test may be the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), a screening tool for cognitive impairment and dementia. Medical experts question why Trump has taken the same test multiple times. Dr. Jonathan Reiner, professor of medicine and surgery, questioned both the repeated cognitive assessments and additional heart imaging. 'Why did the president have another coronary artery CT? He was last scanned in October. We don’t typically scan patients six months later unless we are concerned about a finding on the initial scan,' Reiner wrote.
Health Findings and Recommendations
Doctors advised Trump on diet and physical activity after records showed a 14-pound weight gain since April 2025, bringing his weight to 238 pounds (108 kg). His Body Mass Index is just below the obesity threshold. The medical report noted bruising on his hands from frequent handshaking and aspirin therapy, recommending a low-dose aspirin regimen. Mild swelling in his lower legs was linked to chronic venous insufficiency, common in older adults.
Despite these issues, Dr. Barbabella concluded that Trump has strong cardiac, neurological, pulmonary, and overall health. 'His demanding daily schedule, including multiple high-level meetings, public engagements, and regular physical activity, continues to support his overall well-being,' the doctor wrote.
Trump, who turns 80 next month, remains the oldest person elected US president after securing a second term. Concerns over age and fitness persist in American politics, especially after similar scrutiny of former President Joe Biden during and after the 2024 election cycle.
