Anthony Joshua's Car Crash Seating Position Revealed

New eyewitness testimony has shed light on the precise circumstances inside the vehicle carrying British boxing champion Anthony Joshua during a tragic accident in Nigeria's Ogun State. The collision, which occurred on Monday, December 29, 2025, along the busy Lagos-Ibadan expressway, resulted in the deaths of two individuals.

Witness Account Details Joshua's Position

According to a report by The Punch newspaper, witness Adeniyi Orojo provided a clear account of the seating arrangement inside the Lexus involved in the crash. Anthony Joshua was seated directly behind the driver, with another passenger beside him in the back seat. A fourth occupant was in the front passenger seat next to the driver.

Orojo confirmed that the vehicle was carrying four people at the time of the incident. Tragically, the crash proved instantly fatal for two of them. The passenger beside the driver and the person seated next to Joshua both died on the spot.

It was also revealed that Joshua's security team was not in the same vehicle. They were travelling in a separate car behind the Lexus when the accident happened.

Police and FRSC Investigation Findings

Local police and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident, stating that the 36-year-old former heavyweight champion sustained minor injuries. Olusegun Ogungbemide, the FRSC spokesperson, shared preliminary findings from the investigation.

The report indicated that the Lexus was "travelling beyond the legally prescribed speed limit" on that section of road. The driver allegedly lost control while attempting an overtaking manoeuvre, causing the car to collide with a stationary truck parked on the roadside.

Social media photos from the scene showed Joshua being helped from the wrecked vehicle, visibly in pain. The Lagos-Ibadan expressway is a major artery connecting Nigeria's economic hub, Lagos, to other regions, and is notorious for accidents often linked to speeding and reckless driving.
