Mourinho's Return to the Spanish Capital
The 63-year-old tactician returns to Real Madrid after a single season with Benfica in Portugal. The Spanish club activated a €15 million release clause in his contract with the Portuguese side, allowing him to make the move back to Madrid. Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013, during which he secured a LaLiga title, a Copa del Rey, and a Supercopa de España, in addition to reaching three consecutive Champions League semifinals.

A statement published on Real Madrid’s official website confirmed that Mourinho will remain in charge until June 30, 2029. The club also announced that the Portuguese coach will officially begin his duties on July 13, when the team’s pre-season preparations commence ahead of the new campaign.
The Real Madrid board of directors, chaired by Florentino Perez, met on Thursday, June 11, to approve the appointment. The statement read: "The Board of Directors of Real Madrid CF, meeting today Thursday, June 11, and chaired by Florentino Perez, has agreed to appoint Jose Mourinho as first team coach for the next three seasons, until June 30, 2029."
