Nigerian Youth Builds Mobile Device to Prevent Home Fires

A young Nigerian inventor has developed a wireless electrical changeover system that can be controlled using a mobile phone, aimed at preventing domestic fire accidents. The device allows homeowners to remotely switch power sources or turn off electricity, reducing the risk of fires caused by electrical negligence.

How the Device Works

The inventor, known on TikTok as @aerospido.tech, shared a video on May 2, 2026, demonstrating the system. The device integrates a mobile unit into the electrical circuit, which triggers a mechanical switch when a phone call is made to it. In the demonstration, a call instantly flipped the switch and turned on a light bulb.

The creator explained that the system is effective from anywhere with mobile network coverage, even from as far as Canada. He stated, "This is best for the home in case you forget to change over or switch off the system. Even if you are as far away as Canada, you can operate it because a cell phone is universal."

Previous Innovations by Nigerian Youths

This is not the first time a Nigerian youth has created a groundbreaking device. Previously, Oluwatobi Oyinlola developed the world's smallest GPS tracking device prototype, earning congratulations from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The young inventor's work highlights the growing trend of tech-savvy Nigerians developing solutions to everyday problems using accessible technology.
