Netherlands Releases 2026 Visa-Free List
The Netherlands has officially published its updated visa policy for 2026, listing over 40 countries whose citizens can enter the country without a visa. The list, available on the Dutch government's website, includes nations from various continents, but only two African countries qualify for visa-free travel.
According to the announcement, citizens of Mauritius and Seychelles are the only African nationals who can visit the Netherlands without applying for a visa in advance. The policy allows stays for a specified period, though the exact duration was not detailed in the release.
African Countries on the List
Legit.ng, which reported the development, confirmed that the Netherlands' visa-free entry applies specifically to Mauritius and Seychelles. No other African countries were included in the list. The Dutch government also noted that holders of special passports, such as diplomatic passports, from certain countries may also be eligible for visa-free entry for a limited time.
This update follows a similar announcement from Belgium, which also granted visa-free access only to Mauritius and Seychelles among African nations. Other African countries still require a visa to travel to the Netherlands.
Impact on Travelers
For citizens of Mauritius and Seychelles, this policy simplifies travel to the Netherlands, eliminating the need for visa applications and fees. However, travelers from other African nations must continue to follow standard visa procedures. The Netherlands encourages all visitors to check the latest entry requirements on its official government website before planning their trips.
