Ogun State Pilgrims Receive Essential Guidance and Vaccination Ahead of 2026 Hajj
The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has taken proactive steps to ensure a successful and spiritually fulfilling Hajj experience for its citizens by organizing a detailed sensitization and inoculation program. This initiative aims to equip intending pilgrims with crucial knowledge on Hajj rites, health management, and travel regulations, preparing them thoroughly for the upcoming journey to the holy land.
Leadership Emphasizes Discipline and Compliance
During the event held at Oke-Mosan, the Board Chairman, Sheikh Zakaria Olohungbebe, addressed the pilgrims, advising them to maintain discipline, sincerity, and devotion throughout the Hajj exercise. He stressed the importance of adhering strictly to established guidelines, including respecting constituted authorities and embodying the true values of Islam. This guidance is intended to foster a harmonious and respectful pilgrimage environment.

Comprehensive Enlightenment and Health Measures
The program featured in-depth enlightenment sessions led by religious scholars, who offered step-by-step guidance on performing the pilgrimage rites. Complementing this, a thorough inoculation exercise was conducted by medical personnel to safeguard the health of pilgrims before their departure. Health experts also delivered comprehensive lectures on personal wellbeing, urging pilgrims to:
- Maintain proper hygiene
- Stay hydrated
- Comply with medical advice
- Take necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses and infections
Security and Legal Compliance Education
Security agencies, including officials from the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), provided essential education on travel protocols and legal compliance. They warned against carrying prohibited items, engaging in drug-related offences, or violating international laws, emphasizing that offenders would face serious consequences. Additionally, pilgrims were advised to safeguard their travel documents, remain law-abiding, and uphold Nigeria's image while in the holy land.
Positive Feedback from Participants
Participants expressed their appreciation for the Board's efforts, describing the program as timely and enlightening. Many noted that the sensitization had significantly boosted their confidence and preparedness for the spiritual exercise, highlighting the program's effectiveness in addressing their concerns and equipping them with necessary information.
