Mountain Top University has reinforced its dedication to providing education that serves both divine purposes and human needs, transforming academic knowledge into practical solutions for societal challenges.
University's Vision for Impactful Scholarship
During the 4th Annual Conference of the College of Basic and Applied Sciences held at the university's Ibafo campus in Ogun State, Professor Elijah Ayolabi, the Vice-Chancellor, articulated the institution's core principles. The event, which took place on 26 November 2025, gathered distinguished scholars, researchers, and industry professionals to discuss scientific advancements.
Professor Ayolabi emphasized that Mountain Top University deliberately chooses excellence with integrity, speed with safety, intelligence with inclusion, and ambition with accountability. He provided profound insights about the importance of ethical foundations in academic pursuits, stating that excellence without proper ethics becomes exploitation, while intelligence without inclusive practices leads to inequality.
Conference Focus on Intelligent Age Solutions
The conference theme, "Science and Innovation in the Intelligent Age for Inclusive and Sustainable National Development," perfectly aligns with the university's mission to address contemporary challenges through research. Professor Ayolabi stressed the urgency of ensuring that scientific progress benefits all segments of society while protecting environmental resources for future generations.
He described the current era as an intelligent age where technology intersects with daily life in remarkable ways: "algorithms collaborate with artisans; sensors communicate with soil and water; medical diagnostics fit into backpacks; materials revolutionize building construction; satellites guide agricultural practices; and data analysis reveals life-saving patterns."
Faith-Based Foundation for Academic Excellence
As a faith-based institution, Mountain Top University operates under a divine mandate to cultivate minds, stimulate innovation, and maintain values that reflect spiritual principles across all academic disciplines. Professor Ayolabi explained that every educational activity at the university aims not only to expand intellectual capabilities but also to serve as a channel for realizing divine purposes for humanity.
The Vice-Chancellor encouraged all participants to adopt purpose-driven approaches in developing ideas, innovations, and policies capable of transforming communities. He urged consistent efforts to convert theoretical knowledge into practical solutions that meaningfully contribute to societal advancement.
Professor Edwin Andrew Ofudje, Dean of the College of Basic and Applied Sciences, highlighted in his welcome address that the conference outcomes would promote several key objectives:
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers, industries, and policymakers
- Generate actionable insights on emerging technologies for inclusive growth
- Inspire young scientists to embrace creativity, ethics, and responsibility
- Strengthen research culture aligned with global standards
- Build sustainable partnerships between academia, industry, and government
Professor Ofudje described science and innovation as transformative forces rather than mere academic subjects, emphasizing their role in wealth creation, environmental preservation, and human wellbeing improvement through fields like renewable energy, artificial intelligence, agricultural biotechnology, and data-driven governance.
He reaffirmed Mountain Top University's commitment to developing scholars who combine scientific ingenuity with moral integrity, and innovators whose discoveries will drive Nigeria toward sustainable progress. "Our focus is to be a world-class university driven by people of integrity, upholding excellence through effective learning and research," he stated, highlighting the institution's mandate to produce morally sound and academically excellent graduates with global impact potential.
