Coolwealth Awards 2026 Set to Celebrate Nigerian Excellence

The stage is set for a prestigious celebration of Nigerian achievement as the organizers of the Coolwealth Awards have unveiled the distinguished honorees for its upcoming ninth edition. The ceremony, scheduled for January 11, 2026, will be held at the Azalea Hall in Ikoyi, Lagos, bringing together a vibrant mix of leaders from the spheres of culture, business, entertainment, and humanitarian service.

Prestigious Honours for Cultural and Humanitarian Giants

This year's awards are designed to recognize individuals whose lives and work demonstrate profound cultural relevance, national contribution, and public impact. Among the headline recipients are three iconic figures: His Imperial Majesty Oba Abimbola Akin Owoade I, the Alaafin of Oyo; the legendary music maestro, King Sunny Ade; and Ambassador Dr. Folasade Bosede Agbeluyi.

The event will shine a spotlight on traditional leadership by conferring an honour on the Alaafin of Oyo, celebrating his pivotal role in preserving and promoting the rich tapestry of Yoruba cultural heritage.

Meanwhile, King Sunny Ade is being recognized for his indelible mark on the music world. His pioneering efforts in the evolution of African music and his role in securing its international acclaim have made him a beloved figure across multiple generations.

Dr. Folasade Agbeluyi: A Triple Honoree with a Heart for Service

In a remarkable feat, Dr. Folasade Bosede Agbeluyi is listed for recognition in three distinct categories: Woman of the Year, Humanitarian Icon of the Year, and Skincare Brand of the Year for her venture, PoshGlow Skincare. This recognition comes on the heels of her recent academic accomplishment—an Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration from the London Bridge Business School in the United Kingdom.

Her philanthropic commitment is channeled through the Folasade Olayinka Foundation, which has been instrumental in supporting widows, fostering youth skills development, and aiding vulnerable communities. A key initiative from the foundation is the "Feeding for All" program, launched in 2023. Reflecting on her drive for humanitarian work during her doctorate conferment, Dr. Agbeluyi stated, “From hunger to hardship, I’ve seen it all. That pain made me compassionate, not cold. Helping others is my purpose, not for performance.”

The Coolwealth Awards has a storied history of celebrating high-achieving Nigerians. Past laureates include state governors such as Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Ademola Adeleke of Osun, and Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo, as well as popular entertainers like Jide Kosoko, Yemi Solade, Mr Macaroni, Broda Shaggi, and Kenny Blaq.
