In a significant recognition of his leadership, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has been honoured with a prestigious Life Patron award by the National APC Christian Leaders Forum of Nigeria.
A Ceremony of Honour and Commitment
The investiture ceremony took place recently at the NCPC Corporate Headquarters in Abuja. The event occurred during a courtesy visit by the Executive members of the association, who came to formalize this notable appointment.
During his acceptance remarks, Bishop Adegbite delivered a powerful message of national unity and optimism. He stressed that Nigeria would not be an abandoned project, boldly describing the country as the best nation on the planet. He elaborated on the symbiotic relationship between the Church and the Government, maintaining that the two entities share harmonious and intertwined relationships.
Defending Leadership and Denouncing Division
The NCPC helmsman took a firm stance on several national issues. He directly addressed and debunked insinuations of Christian genocide in Nigeria, stating unequivocally, “There is no Christian genocide in Nigeria.”
Furthermore, Adegbite offered a robust defence of the current administration. He reaffirmed that President Bola Tinubu is not a religious bigot and expressed his conviction that Tinubu is the best President Nigeria has ever had. He reiterated that for the nation to prosper, Nigeria must work, and the dividends of the government's Renewed Hope Agenda must be fully realized.
He also praised the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, describing her as a strong pillar for the President. Adegbite hailed her as the First ordained Minister of God to occupy the exalted office, a beacon of hope for many, and a champion of prosperity for all.
A Call to Action for Christian Leaders
Addressing the forum directly, Bishop Adegbite charged the APC Christian Leaders to collaborate closely with the Commission and the Church at large, reminding them of their divine mandate by stating, “We are the light of the world.”
Earlier in the proceedings, the President of the National APC Christian Leaders Forum of Nigeria, Prof. Abraham Olarewaju, outlined the group's mission. Represented by his Director of National Planning and Strategy, Dr. Babalola Emmanuel, he explained that the association was established in 2019 to coordinate Christians for the All Progressive Congress across states and Local Government Areas to garner massive grassroots support.
He emphasized that the era of Christian disinterest in politics is over, asserting that every effort must be made to support the APC. His statement captured a central theme of the event: “after the power of God, the next power is political power.”
