Stephanie Ikedieze, wife of veteran Nollywood actor Chinedu Ikedieze (popularly known as Aki), has broken her silence on swirling rumours about their marriage. In a viral video, she used humour to taunt critics who persistently questioned her husband's whereabouts, delivering a playful yet pointed response that has sparked fresh reactions online.
Stephanie's Humorous Response to Critics
Addressing the chatter directly, Stephanie said: 'So guys, I want to reply to this comment, some of you have been asking me where Mr Legend is. The thing is that I actually sold him. I sold him off to an Iranian… but after two or three days, they returned him and said he's too dark. They asked if I could bleach him, but it didn't work. So I refunded them.'
Continuing her lighthearted monologue, she added: 'Afghanistan later called and said I should deliver him to them. I did, and I just pray they are okay with his complexion. The money is still here with me. So that is it. Yes, I came back and made vegetable soup freshly.'
Background of the Rumours
The speculation began after a blogger, Truestoriesd with Ifeomafans, pointed out Stephanie's significant weight loss and noted changes in the couple's social media activity. The blogger claimed Stephanie had changed her profile name to her husband's name and that the pair had not been making skits together for some time. The post also warned that Aki's second marriage should be kept more private, fuelling questions about the relationship.
Fans had also observed a perceived distance between the couple, who were once known for their frequent comedy skits. The lack of recent collaborations led to assumptions that all was not well.
Netizens React to the Video
The video drew mixed reactions from social media users. One commenter, blessed_phili, wrote: 'Sis we hope your marriage is ok that's all. You and your husband were making comedy videos and seemed happy, it's not hard to see the distance. you are in your marriage not the world. So if you take it as a joke and be sarcastic that's fine but we wish you happiness and peace in your marriage.'
Another user, dovehomes247, defended the couple: 'Una dey see person dey her husband house una still dey ask jamb questions... Nigerians too like bad news especially divorce news.'
Some users played along with the joke. info.leadcatering quipped: 'Msp Msp how many times did I call you? Eat you food in peace. So you will tell us the ingredients you used in bleaching our legend ooo @iammsp1.'
Others expressed skepticism, with _dee__deee commenting: 'They returned him 2days ago and you have been bleaching him over 1week wonderful story line ????.'
Recent Comedy Skit Sparks Comparison
The video comes shortly after Aki and Stephanie released a comedy skit that mimicked online appeals for medical donations. The skit, posted two days after controversial influencer Blessing CEO revealed she was battling stage 4 cancer and asked for financial support, drew attention for its timing. In the skit, Stephanie pretended to be deaf, dumb and blind while Aki urged viewers to send money to their account. When she suddenly spoke, Aki declared it a miracle, making the scene humorous.
Many Nigerians noted how quickly personal crises involving public figures are turned into comedy, with some social media users warning that such skits could make people confuse genuine medical appeals for content creation.
Previous Birthday Celebration
Despite the rumours, Aki celebrated his birthday recently with a surprise wake-up call from a saxophonist in his hotel room. He thanked the movie producer and the hotel for specially honouring him, showing a lighter side to the ongoing speculation.
