After the Round of 32 win, Messi approached Martinez, who works for broadcaster Telefe, in the post-match media area. He exchanged a greeting and shared his thoughts on the match. During a tentative hug and kiss on the cheek, Messi used the moment to ridicule the online narratives.

The public denial follows Martinez's revelation that Messi's wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, personally reached out to her amid the media storm. Martinez disclosed that Roccuzzo sent her a direct message offering support. “Sofi, don't worry, ignore the nonsense,” Roccuzzo wrote, according to Martinez.
