40 and Fabulous Naija Redefines Ageing, Empowers Mature Women in Nigeria
Ambassador Jolly Abani, the Chief Executive Officer of Mother of Models International and the visionary initiator of the groundbreaking 40 and Fabulous Naija reality TV show, has provided a detailed explanation of the initiative's core mission: to directly confront and dismantle long-standing societal stereotypes about ageing. According to Abani, this innovative platform was specifically designed to reshape outdated perceptions of women over 40 by actively highlighting their enduring vitality, unwavering confidence, and continued relevance across diverse professional and social spheres.
Challenging Outdated Narratives
She expressed deep concern that in many societies globally, including within Nigeria, women who reach a certain age are often unfairly sidelined, marginalized, or erroneously considered past their prime. "The reality show was conceived to counter such harmful narratives by celebrating mature women who are accomplished, resilient, and genuinely eager to pursue new opportunities and dreams," Abani stated emphatically. The show serves as a powerful rebuttal to ageist attitudes, proving that life and ambition do not diminish with years.
Grand Finale and Substantial Rewards
Speaking in anticipation of the highly awaited grand finale for Season 3 of the show in Abuja, she revealed exciting details about the rewards. The overall winner is set to receive a transformative N10 million cash prize, a brand-new car, and an array of other valuable rewards. This current season featured 10 dynamic housemates—all women in their 40s—who lived together in a camp for an intensive 60-day period. During this time, they showcased their unique talents, honed skills, and demonstrated remarkable personal growth journeys.
The grand finale is officially scheduled for April 18, 2026, at the prestigious Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton in Abuja. The event promises to be a spectacular night filled with fun, high-quality entertainment, and heartfelt celebration. Attendees can expect performances by a stellar lineup of artists and personalities, including Chella, Bracket, Bimbo Akintola, Empress Njamah, Shortcut, Notrace, Roy General, Veno, and Oge Kimono.
Projecting Women as Active Contributors
Abani further emphasised that the fundamental aim of 40 and Fabulous Naija is to project women above 40 as active, vital contributors to national development and societal progress, rather than as individuals limited or defined by their age. By intentionally bringing together women from vastly diverse professional and social backgrounds, the initiative powerfully demonstrates that maturity inherently brings wisdom, strength, and a renewed sense of purpose.
"Life truly begins at 40. That is exactly what this show is about. For far too long, women in their 40s have been marginalised and subtly discouraged from pursuing their dreams and aspirations. 40 and Fabulous Naija was created to celebrate these women and unlock their vast, often untapped potentials," she concluded. The show stands as a beacon of empowerment, redefining what it means to age fabulously in Nigeria and beyond.
