The Rotary Club of Ikeja has commended its founding elders for their enduring contributions to the club's growth and legacies. The club honored the senior members at a special Elders' Celebration, held to commemorate its 58th anniversary.
President's Remarks on Elders' Role
President of the Ikeja Rotary Club, Olanrewaju Lawal, described the elders as custodians of the club's values and traditions. She noted that since the club's establishment in 1967, these individuals have played a vital role in sustaining its culture and guiding younger members.
"This celebration is a way of appreciating those who built the foundation we stand on today. Their commitment to sustaining the legacy of the club continues to inspire younger members," she said.
Lecture on Peace and Conflict Resolution
A major highlight of the celebration was a lecture on peace and conflict resolution delivered by guest speaker Ayo Abraham. He emphasized the importance of leveraging the wisdom and experience of elders as mediators in resolving disputes within the club.
Honored Elders
Elders honored included Busuyi Onabolu, Thomas Odegbami, Boye Ogunlaja, Olusegun Oshunkeye, Bintan Famutimi, Dipo Onabanjo, and Bolarinde.
