Nigerian rapper Vector has shared his thoughts on the country’s ongoing insecurity, questioning whether citizens are being deliberately dehumanised. In a recent video, he expressed concern that the constant repetition of kidnappings and killings may be making Nigerians passive to violence.
Vector noted that many people have spoken out for years, but the continuous occurrence of such incidents has made conversations around insecurity feel “stale.” He raised concerns that Nigerians may be becoming desensitised to kidnappings, beheadings, and other violent acts.
Referencing the “One Million Boys” era in Lagos, Vector suggested that community vigilance might now be one of the few practical options available. He recalled how residents reportedly formed vigilante groups to protect their areas when authorities struggled to curb attacks.
The rapper also questioned leadership and accountability, expressing frustration over the country’s worsening situation. He emphasised the need for collective action and community-based security measures.
