In a significant move to bridge the digital skills gap in Africa, Tech Sphere Academy (TS Academy) has empowered its students by providing them with essential learning tools, including laptops, smartphones, and scholarship certificates. This initiative, which took place in Lagos, Nigeria, is a core part of the academy's mission to make technology education more hands-on and accessible across the continent.
Empowering Learners with Essential Tools
The presentation event saw beneficiaries receive brand new laptops and mobile devices to directly support their ongoing studies. These students are enrolled in a range of high-demand courses such as Social Media Marketing, Project Management, Digital Marketing, Product Marketing, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, and Product Management.
Olaniyan Oluwadamilola, the General Manager of People & Growth at TS Academy, emphasized the critical importance of this support. "We have observed the profound impact that the right tools have on a learner's development," Olaniyan stated. "These devices provide our students with the fundamental resources they need to participate fully in classes, remain engaged throughout the program, and complete their projects without hindrance."
Building on a Foundation of Access
This device distribution effort builds upon the academy's substantial ₦1 billion scholarship program. This broader initiative has already granted over 3,000 Africans fully-funded access to tech and digital training, systematically working to remove the financial and logistical barriers that often prevent talented individuals from acquiring relevant skills and transitioning into the digital workforce.
Adetola Durojaiye, the Founder of TS Academy, reinforced the organization's overarching goal. "Our objective is to ensure that every learner at TS Academy has an equitable opportunity to succeed," Durojaiye said. "By providing access to proper training, dedicated mentorship, and the right tools, we are not merely teaching—we are actively helping people build careers that can transform their lives."
Student Testimonials and Future Support
The immediate impact of this initiative is already visible among the student body. Chimaroke Chukwu, a student who recently joined the Cybersecurity program, expressed his profound appreciation for the support. He shared that receiving a laptop has eliminated a major source of anxiety and allowed him to fully commit to his studies.
"Before receiving this laptop, I was constantly worried about how I would keep up with my courses and practical projects," Chukwu explained. "Now, I can concentrate entirely on learning, developing my skills, and preparing to contribute meaningfully to Africa's growing tech ecosystem."
Looking ahead, TS Academy has committed to providing continuous follow-up support through mentorship and project-based learning, ensuring students can apply their newly acquired skills in real-world work environments. Beyond the classroom, the academy remains dedicated to connecting its learners to internships, industry partnerships, and professional opportunities throughout Africa's expanding tech landscape.
