The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation has joined forces with the Federal Government to launch a comprehensive digital capacity building initiative aimed at transforming Nigeria's civil service. This partnership, announced on November 25, 2025, represents a significant step toward modernizing public service delivery across the nation.
Addressing Digital Gaps in Government Ministries
According to Eniola Olowu, the Foundation's Deputy Director of Programs, this initiative directly tackles the challenge of outdated work processes and low digital proficiency that has been slowing down service delivery in various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). The program emerges as a timely intervention to bridge the technological skills gap that has hindered efficient governance.
The collaboration involves the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) and Coronation Group, creating a powerful alliance dedicated to equipping civil servants with practical digital competencies. This training will enable government workers to embrace technology-driven solutions that support automation, data-informed decision-making, and enhanced inter-departmental collaboration.
Comprehensive Digital Training Curriculum
The program focuses on four critical areas essential for modern governance: Microsoft Office productivity tools, cloud collaboration and communication platforms, enterprise systems, and digital workplace readiness. Participants will receive hands-on training to improve documentation accuracy, strengthen teamwork through cloud-based platforms, and optimize workflow efficiency.
Key systems being introduced include the Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools, which are expected to significantly improve data accessibility and enable MDAs to provide faster, more responsive services to Nigerian citizens. These technological solutions will transform how government agencies manage information and interact with the public.
Aligning with National Digital Transformation Goals
Eniola Olowu emphasized that "digitalization is central to building a modern, efficient, and citizen-centred civil service." She explained that the foundation's work complements the Federal Government's broader digitalization strategy, particularly the implementation of the Enterprise Content Management System under the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2025 (FCSSIP25).
This initiative marks a crucial milestone in Nigeria's journey toward digital governance, empowering civil servants with the skills needed for smarter decision-making, improved accountability, and ultimately, enhanced public service delivery that meets the needs of 21st-century Nigeria.
