1,000 Edo Youths Empowered at Career Clinic

More than 1,000 young Nigerians in Edo State have received life-changing skills training and business opportunities through the recently concluded Jobberman Career Clinic. The transformative event, organized in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, brought together job seekers, entrepreneurs, and career professionals for intensive learning and networking sessions.

Clarity in Career and Business

The career clinic, held on November 19, 2025, centered around the powerful theme "Your Career Compass: Gain Clarity in Work and Business." Innih Ikhide, Head of Youth Engagement & Learning at Jobberman Nigeria, set the tone with his opening address, emphasizing that "clarity is no longer a luxury but a necessity" in today's rapidly changing world of work.

The event featured a compelling keynote address from Isimeme Whyte, Founder of Genius Hub, who challenged participants to embrace technology and develop entrepreneurial mindsets. "The caliber of young people I met in Benin City genuinely inspired me," Whyte shared. "They are not waiting for handouts; they're hungry for knowledge, for connections, for a fair chance."

Intensive Skill Development Sessions

Participants engaged in three comprehensive breakout sessions designed to equip them with practical skills:

  • Esohe Esther Idehen led sessions on Interview Etiquette and Personal Branding
  • John lyoha focused on Entrepreneurship Development
  • Ibrahim Odion taught Digital Customer Engagement strategies

An expert panel featuring Dr. Osayuwamen Aladeselu, Jobina Arinze, Kevwe Modupe, and Chika Ike-Ojukwu provided candid insights about navigating today's competitive job market, offering practical guidance that resonated deeply with attendees.

Inclusive Approach and Government Support

The event's inclusive nature received special recognition from Kingsley Eromesele, Chairman of the Edo State Deaf People Association, who appreciated the organizers for considering persons with disabilities. "The sessions were accessible and valuable," Eromesele noted, expressing hope for more inclusive events in the future.

Hon. Kerimu Shehu Kelly, Managing Director of the Edo State Skills Development Agency (EdoJobs), commended Jobberman's efforts and expressed interest in future collaboration. "When we work together, we can reach even more young people who need these opportunities," Kelly stated, particularly emphasizing the importance of reaching marginalized communities.

The career clinic's impact was immediately evident through participants like Rejoice Aghoghore, a recent University of Benin graduate who now owns an accessories business. "The panel session gave me some clarity on what to do to put myself out there and promote my business," Aghoghore shared, expressing renewed confidence in her entrepreneurial journey.
